JOB SUMMARY: As scheduled and under the general supervision of the Director of Event Operations, provide technical support for special events, performances, and routine rental situations at various Center locations.
% of Role ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
85% Event Operations
• Operate lighting and audio/visual equipment for events including theatrical performances, concerts, screenings, memorials, and receptions.
• Set up and break down audio/visual equipment, props, furniture, and scenery.
• Hang and focus theatrical lighting using a light plot; load in/out sound equipment using a sound plot or under Technical Manager direction.
• Troubleshoot and resolve AV issues before, during, and after events.
• Run shows and events independently or with stage manager cueing.
• Conduct event setup and breakdown in coordination with Event Managers as needed.
• Provide post-event feedback regarding event execution, equipment performance, and facility use.
15% Other Duties
• Monitor the condition of equipment and supplies and report issues or maintenance needs.
• Load, unload, pack, and assist with transporting gear to and from various locations.
• Follow safety and security procedures for equipment, access, and overall event operations.
• Participate in staff meetings, special events, and related activities as requested.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Solid background in live, special, and theatrical events for a variety of spaces including small (50 seats), medium (200) houses, and outdoor and/or alternative spaces.
• Minimum three years’ experience running light and/or sound boards for live events.
• Working knowledge of and the ability to operate light and sound boards and various AV equipment for events and theatre.
• Ability to run a show with minimal technical rehearsals.
• Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues relevant to LGBTQ people
• A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and an ability to interact appropriately with visiting as well as on-site technicians, theatrical producers, directors, designers, artists, and clients.
• Computer and internet literacy and prior experience with complex computer software
• Ability to implement event details from written work orders and to work effectively with minimal supervision, as a team, as a team leader, and alone
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to program and/or mix.
• Experience with QLab, projections and/or cameras or carpentry or rigging or painting.
• Bilingual Spanish/English.
