Job Title: Service Engineer II Department: Support Team

Reports to:Service Lead Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Service Engineer II must be technically strong in all the most common and popular networking technologies. In addition to strong technical aptitude, backed by at least 2 years of in-the-trenches experience, this person is a good communicator and a person who can manage well when the client is in a pickle and really needs strong guidance.

The pace and demands in this environment are usually much greater than an "in-house" position. This person should be able to execute with a high degree of success in integrating and/or solving problems in environments rich in Windows Server, Exchange, IIS, Terminal Services, VPN's, firewalls, backup systems, cloud services and more. Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Point of Escalation, Phase two of escalation
  • Independently own tasks and follow through to ensure resolution
  • Guiding Level I Engineers through ticket resolutions
  • Completing small projects with minimal supervision
  • Configuring standard Exchange & Outlook
  • Facilitate Daily Team Meetings when Service Lead is OOO
  • Maintaining Client Documentation
  • Installing, configuring, troubleshooting and customizing Microsoft Office and Office365 applications per customer's preference.
  • Administration of enterprise e-mail applications, including adding/removing users and groups, configuring folder permissions if applicable, forwarding mail to other accounts, checking event logs, configuring and restoring from backup
  • Remote and onsite work as needed for clients around the Puget Sound region
  • Taking a personal interest in, and responsibility for, quality of work they perform or are associated with
  • Assisting Sr. Engineers on larger projects

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Two to four years' experience in a professional IT support setting
  • At least one major certification: CCNA, CCDA, CCIE, AZ104 or a combination of any two of: A+, Network +, Security +, Project +
  • Experience using remote take-control services
  • Eager to problem solve and help users, no matter how simple the solution
  • Ability to process auditory information while performing technical tasks
  • Ability to provide accurate time estimates for how long a task will take
  • Experience with basic network administration, including adding/removing users, configuring file permissions, checking event logs, configuring and restoring from backup
  • Understanding of and ability to install, configure and test workstation hardware including video cards, NICs, sound cards, hard drives, and mobile devices
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions and exceeding client expectations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Enjoys helping people to the extent that no problem is considered mundane, no matter how simple the solution

Recommended knowledge:

Knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 required. The work calls for problem-solving in environments rich in Windows Server, Exchange, IIS, Terminal Services, VPN's, firewalls (Cisco, Cisco Meraki, SonicWALL, Ubiquiti UniFi), backup systems, and cloud services. You should be able to demonstrate your experience supporting Windows-based network environments.
