Title: COBOL Developer (Subcontract at a Core BTS Client)

Job Summary: Our client is seeking a skilled COBOL Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform analysis and programming duties in the configuration, development, implementation, and support of information systems and applications. This role involves working with payroll and/or personnel applications, designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing application functionality, and ensuring the smooth operation of our systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform analysis and programming duties in the configuration, development, implementation, and support of information systems and applications.

Configure payroll and/or personnel applications (rules-based applications).

Develop and maintain COBOL programs.

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance the functionality of applications.

Analyze functional specifications for application requests.

Consult with users to evaluate and determine business needs.

Document the functionality and requirements of the software.

Test and modify programs and code to ensure optimal performance and functionality.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in COBOL development.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Experience with legacy systems and related technologies (e.g., JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM).

Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in configuring payroll and/or personnel applications.

Familiarity with mainframe environments and tools.
