JOB TITLE: Managed Services Engineer III

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Pro Services Manager

JOB SUMMARY

• Under the leadership of the Professional Services Manager, the Managed Services Engineer III is responsible for troubleshooting and resolution of customer hardware, software, networking and WAN systems. Positions at this level require highly specialized knowledge, abilities, skills and experience and often exercise independent judgement in the performance of their duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and configuration of Servers, VM Hosts, Operating Systems, routers, switches, firewalls, Wireless Access Points, Controllers, Server Administration.
• Resolve issues that other tiers of support have escalated.
• Perform installation, configuration, testing and documentation of systems according to design and specification while utilizing relevant best practices.
• Troubleshooting with 3rd party vendors and/or manufacturers based on customer requirements.

• Provide software and firmware upgrades, remediation of customer issues and alerts, escalation to other teams as necessary.
• Provide input towards the ongoing development of customers network infrastructure for delivery of data, voice and other technology services.
• Create and implement network security measures to ensure customer data integrity and security.

• Individual ticket management and communication with customers and scheduling of activities.

• Ensuring individual SLAs are met.
• Collaborate with team members to define, analyze, design and deliver appropriate technical solutions to meet customer business objectives.
• Mentor junior professional services staff.
• Attend technology events as required.
• Participate in team meetings and training.
• Other special projects and duties as assigned by the Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge and high-level understanding of the various technologies used by the customer, and how they impact the customers financial bottom line.
• Advanced experience and knowledge in Windows Server, Virtualization, Migrations, Microsoft 365.
• High-level understanding of networking, and associated terminology.
• Self-motivated and results driven with strong organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively present information using a consultative approach.
• Ability to travel regularly to customer locations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The Managed Engineer III interacts frequently with various internal team members to coordinate client success.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5-7 years experience as a Networking Engineer.
• High-Level certifications from Cisco, VMWare, Microsoft, Extreme are preferred such as:
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP
  • VMWare VCP/VCAP/VCDX
  • MCSE/MCSA/MCSD
  • Extreme EDS/ECS
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+
  • Sophos Firewalls and Endpoint Protecion

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Sitting/Standing

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.Up to 60%

Lifting/Carrying

Occasionally loads and sets up hardware, moves up to 50 pounds of equipment.Up to 10%

Handling/Grasping/Feeling

Must be able to operate phone and computer and other work product and to interact with others.Up to 100%

Seeing

Must have visual acuity to perform tasks on computer, service staff, resolve issues and present information to current and prospective customers.Up to 100%

Talking/Hearing

Frequently communicates with customers, vendors and internal team members to present information, troubleshoot issues and respond to questions.Up to 100%

Working Conditions

Normal working conditions in an office environment absent extreme factors. Evening and weekend work may be required to meet work demands. Travel is required to meet with vendors and customers as well as equipment setup when required. May experience inclement weather while travelling.
