Job Description
Who We Are:
The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) is the Voice of Agriculture. We are farm and ranch families working together to build a sustainable future of safe and abundant food, fiber and renewable fuel for our nation and the world.
AFBF is the country’s largest general farm organization and the leading advocate for farm and ranch families. We are driven by the belief that we are stronger when we work together to support our communities and sustainably grow the food, fiber and renewable fuel we all depend on. Every year, Farm Bureau members in more than 2,800 counties meet to discuss and vote on policies affecting their farms, ranches and communities. Those policies then set the agenda for their state Farm Bureaus and ultimately AFBF.
Internship Program Overview:
We are pleased to offer an internship program for seven of the nation’s best and brightest future leaders in agriculture.
The AFBF internship program provides university students with an immersive opportunity to develop professional skills, explore agricultural industry dynamics, and gain hands-on experience through an 8–10-week engagement with our organization. Interns will develop a comprehensive understanding of association operations while building meaningful workplace competencies.
Throughout the program, participants will network with colleagues and senior executives through targeted educational and professional development activities.
This internship is scheduled to run from the week of May 26th to the week of August 11th. It is preferred that interns start their internship between May 27th and June 3rd.
Interns will be based at our Washington, DC office, working on-site four days per week with the option to telework on Fridays.
All AFBF’s interns will be paid an hourly rate of $18.00 per hour.
Role Description:
Applicants should have completed at least their sophomore year of undergraduate coursework, with a major in agriculture, education, policy, leadership, or a related field. The intern will assist staff in the program areas of Membership, Promotion & Education, Safety, Young Farmers & Ranchers, and Women’s Leadership. Additionally, the intern will work with staff on grassroots efforts and leadership development programs. This internship is ideal for students interested in program development within the agriculture industry.
To ensure your application is considered complete, please submit a cover letter, resume, transcript, and two letters of recommendation.
Applications will be accepted until February 15, 2025. Interviews will be conducted in February and March.
